Homesick, no more!

It's so weird, but ever since I got married, one thing have disappeared of my list of feelings. The feeling of homesickness!

I remember spending nights dreaming of going back to Amman, and days crying of how awesome it used to be back home. I went out of my way to find songs that relate to home, and cried to Aziz Maraqa's "The story" where the guys want to go back to Amman!

Now, it's no longer there! The stranger part is that I really don't miss that feeling!

This is so strange. For someone like me who has really strong ties and relations to "home". But it's so true. At least from my perspective, the feeling has vanished! There is no longing anymore, there is no missing, and homesickness no longer exists

I guess, whoever said, "Home is where the heart is" really meant, "home is where the wife is"

So if someone out there feels homesick, my advice is .. get married! You'll either hurry back, or forget about it!

Although i can't speak for marital experience yet, if i were to guess, i would say you are not feeling so homesick because you are experiencing something totally new in your life, and that is not leaving any space for your old feelings at the moment. They are at least dampened for now. This may also be because you now have a piece of home sitting right next to you at all time :-) ... i don't know ... but cool.

on your advice to get married ... are you willing to finance those who are in the line ?

first of all, a late mabrook :)

I think Za3tar is somehow right, I got the same feeling as I found my life partner, but then later in life, some months later, both of us went back to staring at the ceiling and remembering the nice days we spent there. it happens much less than before, but it still happens.
and by the way i think that those little times now are the real homesickness, the ones i had before finding my love were "love-sickness" or "care-sickness", care that came from home inhabitants.

I cannot speak with authority on homesickness, but I find the logic in what MD is saying. you did not have anyone to care for and to care for you but back home, now you do : )
