By far the question most people ask me everytime I say, "I'm getting married" is "So, how did you meet"

I have no idea what people gain by knowing such things. Like, would they be able to give the relationship a duration or a period before something happens? Or is it to judge people as in ... If it was through family, then good, if not, then bad!

I honestly don't mind the question, but it makes me wonder!

Could it be that they're hoping to hear a romantic love story unravelling before them or maybe gauge their own experience based on that!

Can someone tell me what do people think of when they ask that question?!

Wallahi it depends...
Some ask just men bab el fudool laysa aktar...
Some want to gain one more story to astonish friends with during sessions and social visits...
Some just wanna be sure that you did not get some thing better thatn they got...
Some of them ask because you are dear to them and they consider that telling them is a way of cherishing them back...
Some ask because they are fondof stories anddetails in general...
Some ask out of their honest happines for what happened to you...
And some just like to countthe points of similarity between yourstory and their's :-)
Or may be just because you are a well spotted blogger, so they want to see how such a famous character might make up his mind!! :-)

OK, I'll tell you why.

most people belong to one of the following categories:

1)nosy. They want to know البيضة مين باضها
2)they are professional small talkers. they just want to get some conversation going
3)they are just wondering if the way you guys met could be replicated and they could meet someone too.
4)they are genuinely interested to know if she was a Russian catalog bride
5)they are just nice and don't want to say: man you're doomed! or
6)they were sent by her family to know the real story.

so, how did you guys meet?

come on, it's always nice to hear stories about how did a couple meet and how did they decide to tie the knot :)

Come on .. this is to be expected. People do socialize and care for one another, and if somebody goes through a life changing experience (like getting married), they would like to share that experience with him. If you don't want people to share such experiences with you, don't tell them or don't invite them to your wedding.

Plus, this conversation is more sucky:
-X: Hi Q, how are you ? how's it going ?
-Q: Hi X, I'm fine, things are good, and i'm getting married.
-X: Ok, .. so how about this 3-bean salad for lunch ?

LOL! I don't want to kill them also! I just don't like the feeling that I sometimes get when I feel that they really want to put a moral price tag at the whole thing. Basing it on "how we met"

Yeah, those questions about how a couple met are always soooo loaded with expectations of some kind of cutesy story, so that when it's just "ya3ni, 7ada dalna 3ala ba3d" or something simple, it becomes anti-climactic, everyone's dissapointed, and the person might feel a bit embarrassed that it wasn't more complicated than that, even though there's nothing wrong with it. :(

Only reasonable explanation for getting all annoyed over a question is that you expect judgment which means - and we already took the hint - you guys met online.

My tip...just say it and NEVER mind moral tags oo bateekh!

Women, it's women who usually ask these questions. They really expect some wonderful answers and try to romanatcize every marraige, althouhg most men think of it as just a way from preventing the human kind of extension and having legal sex for free

Yeah, but I still got a couple of guys who want to rush and claim the moral supremacy of how traditional their introductions with. They just want to put a price tag next to the method! Here's the funny part, YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE PEOPLE! If you gave them the ultimate love story introduction. They will be like "yeah, deer balak. My cousin had that and he is divorced now". Or if you give them the traditional method, they will back at you in disbelief as how boring and khara that is. And how their cousin who had that also got divorced! Humph!

That usually happen with me also, specially when people knew that my wife in not an Arab woman, it annoy me some times, so I decided every time to answer different answer lol and have fun!!

BTW - Congratulation if you are going to do it man!!
