Anything that we loves appears to influence us in one way or another. From people to simple things. If someone likes someone or something we like we feel close to them, we feel connected. We feel that we are alike. Somehow, we bond with people who like the same thing. Weather it's a specific sport, a team, a tool, or even a web browser
On the flip side, we unconsciously develop a level of resentment for people who don't like our things. From our car to our baby. If people don't like it, we don't like them.
Which makes me ponder on "opposites attract" rule, in the social sense. Where I find it to be more like, likes not only attract, but even bond!
The oldest trick in the book of car salespeople... Consider this scenario...
Car Sales Person: "Where are you from"
Customer: "I'm from Denver"
Car sales: "Are you kidding me? I'm from Denver too!"
The customer now finds a reason to believe the person (who's about to screw him with a deal that will set him few thousands back)
But he still trusts him, after all, he's from Denver too. And people from Denver are trust worthy, they never lie and they never cheat!
That's the illusion that our love paints on top of a very horrible picture.
When we love something we just can't imagine it in any other light! Just try to convince that Jordan has a thriving prostitution industry. Fueled by local "talent". And you're almost certain that you will get an ashtray or something hurled at you. People just don't want to believe bad things about the people they love.
On a much less scale, imagine, saying a negative thing about someone's baby. Like, oh she has weird looking hair...! Rest assured, regardless of how green the baby's hair is. You are never going to be liked by the mommy! EVER!
Alternatively, lets say someone says a bad thing about the car the you love! Or even the company that makes your car. All of a sudden, you start feeling that you really don't like that person. Unless you REALLY love them, and then you'd be able to accept just about everything from them!
Ahhh, The things we love, they define us, they dictate how we interact with people, knowing them, will help anyone manipulate us. They prove once and for all that opposites, don't really attract! At least, not socially!
So, who's got his most favorite activities blinking on their facebook?
Memories....
but I beg to differ on the last note .... Opposites do attract , even if it is only out of utter curiosity !
Lost Within, thank you for making my day. You like Little Miss Sunshine :)
Good night! There is a thriving prostituion ring in Jordan.I'd like to go to Jordan to check that out.Why do religious women become prostiutes?I don't understand.
having said that, it doesnt really fit with who i am, i prefer common ground, some differences yes, but like, the basics, have to be in common, some interests (to have similar hobbies where we can spend time together) bas asasiyat a relationship for me have to be similar..
