Earlier this month. I reported how Bill Gates is stepping down from Microsoft and to spend more time in his philanthropist activities through the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation. Today, World's number 2 is doing the same thing. What's going on?
Apparently the famous saying that "Money can't buy you happiness" is somewhat true. I am so amazed by worlds richest men pledging to give back their riches to society to help fight diseases, poverty, improve education and provide technology to less fortunate countries in the world
Warren Buffet, world's second richest man after Bill Gates, pledged to donate 1.5 Billion dollars a year for the next 12 years to the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation to support their philanthropist activities. With one condition, they MUST spend that money in the year they receive it. Making their yearly spending rise from 1.36 in 2005 to a whopping 2.86 Billion dollars over the next two years.
There is no reason we can’t cure the top 20 diseases
-- Bill Gates while appearing with Buffet during the donation ceremony in New York Public library
This is a wonderful day for humanity, when the world richest men join forces to solve world problems. And give back to the society the money they earned. I feel great that every time I emptied my pockets to buy Windows or Office that some of the money I paid will be put to the good of mankind. This is just amazing.
In the pictures taken today, I see Bill looking happy. The first time I see him like that in Years. He seriously look happy and excited. Unlike his many years as CEO and world Richest man which made him look sad and miserable.
Bill and Warren, I salute your move. The is the best thing you have done in your careers. Although this is not going to guarantee you a spot in Heaven. But it certainly give you a head start. You have all my utmost respect, may god bless you both.
Warren is not leaving his kids penniless with this donation. He has planning a transfer of 1 billion dollar to each one of the three (Sir, can you adopt me?)
The gift would be worth 37Billion dollars (= the budget of many countries combined) in addition to the 27 to 30billion in assets that the Bill and Malinda gates foundation already has. An amount of money that can certain shape the face of the planet in my humble opinion.
These donations dwarf the 1Billion that Ted turner gave to the UN over the course of his life. So you can imagine how many millions (if not billions) of lives will be touched by these acts of selflessness. Apparently it's not that great to be the richest man in the world.
Memories....
And I am with you Qwaider this is the best thing Bill and Warren did in their careers.
