Less than a year ago, the joke of Welcome to Google TiSP, and the sad appearance in countless publications as BREAK THROUGH science and amazing wonderful new technology. It turned out to be a hoax and the Saudi newspaper was shamed for their blind translation of nothing more than an April's fools joke from Google
This time, it's Elaph, And Albayan newspaper from Emirates. Talking about another amazing technology. GenpetTM
It's sad, so sad when prominent publications engage in media that is based on hoaxes instead of facts. It's such a shame because they actually engaged religious clerics to discuss the issue and give the religious point of view on these matters.
It's very clear that the general media is so desperate for action, they're desperate for getting the scoop on the news that sells. Without verifying the least amount of facts.
There is no respectable newspaper in the world that would run an article without verifying their sources or at least asking the experts.
For god's sake run a Google search, you might come across this site... Where the author explains how he created this extremely elaborate, high quality hoax... http://www.brandejs.ca/portfolio/Genpets/What
To dismiss Genpets as a 'hoax' would be to completely miss the point. The spirit of art is to create an illusion. Genpets is designed 'as is' to help the viewer ponder the idea a bit longer.
The experience of a grainy photo is different than standing face to face with a breathing, sleeping Genpet, but for many the Internet is the optimal means of exposure.
This sculpture is the physical representation of a question. Bioengineering, like any new technology promises a great deal of positive effects. We as a race however tend to put a great deal more faith into technology as a saviour than it necessarily has earned. Through Genpets I question the negative effect that bioengineering can have, for we all know that when it all comes down to it, profit is the bottom line of any new technology.
The question surrounding bioengineering is not in it's positive or negative ramifications, or where it can take us; it is whether or not we are responsible enough to go there.
Adam Brandejs, designer of Genepets, and the fictional Biogenica
It's truly sad!

i hate it when people spread some weird news like that, i mean they can at least look it up before writing the stupid article!
Some = 65%+ of the populace
