    Warning, bloody video included

That is real blood, those are real Flagellums (roman flogs), those are real nails and this is real crucifixion, and here's your shocker... this is 2008!

I know Shiites have similar practices in Ashoura, which I completely disagree with and believe are uncalled for and unnecessary. These "cleansing" practices don't really cleanse anything and I doubt any merciful god would ask something like that from his followers.

I don't mean to pass judgement on anyone. It's just interesting to see these practices in so many different religions and non religions (cutting, self mutilation, piercing, tattooing ...etc).

These all have the same basic idea. Enhancing self or spirit through pain and useless agony. If someone can show me a tattoo that allows us to photosynthesize power of the sun. Or enhance our ability to see, think or do math. Then it's worthy self enhancements. But most don't contribute anything to the human body. (unless someone can convince me that ear rings help with cell phone reception)

Anyway, Happy Easter, enjoy the eggs.

Some of the comments here are really not nice from my point of view..Many "Yahood" ProudPali, if not most, are  better than us in millions of things, and it irritates me when I see people using this word in their sentences.

I think also that its crazy, but sometimes concerning the Shi'a I think..
Well the Shi'a cry their day for a very important reason, it is the day they lost against the first khaleefa who comes to be khaleefa after his father, just because his father wants to. It is the day Muslims lost democracy, the day Muslims learned accept a khaleefa after a father-khaleefa, a president after a father-president, and  so on.
Then I think ... maybe this is worth some blood. Regretting losing Freedom and Democracy, which many people on this earth can NOT live without, maybe is worth some blood. I surely will give no blood for this, but I can understand them.
MD, if ur a supporter of zionists and think they r better than us, and u dont see them as the parasites they really r, then thats ur problem sara7a, if u dint like what u read, look the other way, dont force ur ideas down my throat thank u very much.

ProudPali, I hope you can understand the difference between "Yahood" and zionists. You make the same mistakes some in the west makes when they refer to terrorist as Muslim. its just the same mistake.
I have the right to look the other way or comment on what I read, I think, I am not forcing my ideas. you still can take the word "Yahoodi" for Zionist if you like. I just do not see it appropriate.
MD, just a quick note: Si3a cry over another thing :)
So please go check your facts b4 you start shooting :)

Thank you Adoosh, but I dont know what you mean, maybe you can make things easier when you state your facts instead of that. tell me what do they cry for in this day? isnt it the day Hussien was killed? against the army of yazeed bin Mo3awiya? who fought to keep his seat? that was given to him by his father? where am I wrong? will appreciate some information from you.
    Sure, be my guest :)
They do cry over the murder of Hussein, but that's because he (Hussein) didn't take over Khilafa, it doesn't make a difference for them if the next Khalifa was elected or not as long it wasn't Hussein!

This is your very own way of reading history. I dont know what makes you say that "it doesn't make a difference for them if the next Khalifa was elected or not as long it wasn't Hussein!". At least Hussien had some people to elect him in Kufa to be the khaleefa, and My way of reading history says that if the people decided to elect another person, he would have not fought and gave up to that person. because this is what a good man does, like his father who gave up for Mo3awiya not to make a war.

They cried Hussien Who died fighting against a non-elected  khaleefa (yazeed). How you analyze things that may have happened later if Hussien did not die is only your own opinion. you can read history the way you like. But what you mentioned is not facts, its just an opinion, that I do not support.

I still see it as the day We Arabs gave up Democracy and Freedom to those who hold  swords and guns.
No problem my friend, it's your opinion and you're entitled to it :)
