    Memories....

You know something .. you reminded me of how i felt once that its the Adan sound that makes a place familiar , it has this warmth and it gives this relaxing sense of security whenever heard . so being away in an Arab country .. yet being able to hear the Adan is nos mseebeh .. but being in a foreign country ... with no Adan at all !!!  oh well , I guess one get used to it afterall ..

You know Danah? I never did get used to no Adhan :( I have this computer clock and a little Mo2athen device that plays the Adhan. But nothing is like the real thing.
So people who enjoy this already. Enjoy your blessings
Totally forgot about those electronic clocks & softwares with programmed Adhan !
.. you are right .. nothing like the real thing ..

Thanks Salam, I am taking next week off and travelling to Vancouver, BC. For a change.
The problem with going to Amman from Seattle is that it takes 2 days to get there, and 2 days to come back. And then you have to deal with the Jet lag. so anything less than 3 weeks is a waste of time
But I'm coming insha2allah from November22nd till the new year. I'm so looking forward to that

    my hubby,his cos:)
Mashi ya bta3et Samer :) Sallmeeli 3ala goozo
You're really his cousin. Wallahi I'm honored. I'll call him in the morning insha2allah and let him know
    Salam Ya Qwaider,

First, about the Athan you can buy a smart phone and download almo2athin 3aleeh (pocketislam.net), beseer your mobile ye2athin on time.

Second, By the way there has been a huge migration back to the Middle East since 9/11. People are taking a slight loss and moving back, you won't feel the urgency to move back till you have kids.

Third, my plan is to move back once done with my school. Bas ya akhy walahy el3azeem inno I feel that inno practicing my religion in the Us is a lot better than doing it back home on so many levels.

So here is my advice, if you have a corporate job, invest in a small business on the side. If not, invest some money with small business owners. Once you have your own business, you would have the freedom to travel anywhere. Keep in touch with the Masjid and do some volunteer work (social services), this will always keep you in tact with your roots.

After spending few years in the US (10 years average) you would start debating where is your real HOME?! It’s like swimming in the ocean when you get far enough; going back to the shore seems harder than staying floating in the ocean.
The only problem with living in the US I see is kids adapting a rebellion attitude and loosing respect toward older people, specially if they went to public school and both parents worked, or their father worked 60-80 hours a week.
Other than that I love the US.

    Sorry for the looooong comment.

    Peace
Wallahi ya Palforce you sound like you're living inside me! I already have smartphone (I call it dumb phone because you need to smart to use it) with pocketIslam on it. And I already have a small business in addition to my corporate job (I've had it for 6 years now). I do ADC and Islamic volunteer work and almost camp in the local Masjed. But I fear for my future kids, I don't want them to live away from their roots. I have already set a plan to be back in the next 5 years insha2allah. But I want to be back and not have to work in Jordan. Maybe I'll open a business or something when I return
Nothing has changed for me since 9/11 if anything people are respecting my religion even more (I know surprising but it's the truth) As for 120 hour weeks. Been there, done that, even slept in the office some nights.
I also love it here, but I feel that I love it even more in "El Blad" where everything tastes better. And don't worry about the size of the comment :) I own the server

Palforce, allah yes3edak 3la halkalam , wallah enk btefham , you said it in the right way.
Raising kids these days is very difficult so how if it was in USA!!!
And am so impressed by the masjed part and glad that Qwaider is doing the same too , mashallah 3lekom ya shabab.

you know something, many people told me the same about practicing religion there. I believe that when the person socializes less he/she practices religion more and thats why sometimes people who travel away from their families they get closer to their religion.

Allah ye7meekom ya shabab, we are really proud of you.

Wallahi ya 7ala, you crack me up :) Yis3idli ayaki

Now, who told you we don't socialize? We socialized (and someone times a little more than we should to get over the emptiness) but still, nothing like sitting among your loved ones, enjoying a heated argument almost going to turn into a fight over who's going to win the match!

    Ya Sit 7ala,
First this is called OVER socialization, mish socialization
Second, it's better to be like that than be all alone by yourself (like here in the west) where people have all this free time to get depressed, become alcoholics and end up in strangers beds.
This Socialization that you don't like and find hectic is actually the social support system that helps you and others feel appreciated and alive. Not a single dull moment, everything is happening all at the same time. I find it wonderful if not fascinating

As for trading places. 3alyoum. I might just take you up on your offer! oo deeri balek 3al server oo 3ala Tara
