After reading this:

Boy, 11, marries 10-year-old cousin

AN 11-year-old boy has married his 10-year-old cousin in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mohammed al-Rashidi and his unidentified cousin would seal the marriage they contracted under the sharia laws of Islam and move in together after a ceremony to take place later this year, Al-Shams newspaper reported today.

"I am ready for this marriage. It will help me study better," Mohammed, who goes to primary school in the northern province of Hail, was quoted as saying by Al-Shams.

"I invite all my classmates to do like me," the boy said.

He wanted to "crown a love story through marriage".

The boy's father, Muraizak al-Rashidi, told the newspaper he was busy sending out invitations for a celebration to seal the marriage.

Dahim al-Jaber, the headmaster at Mohammed's school, said marriage at such a young age was "inappropriate" but wished the couple a happy life together.

I am thanking god that we have the 16 year old rule in the Jordanian system. Just like anywhere else in the world!

For god's sake! It's the 21^st century people! 11 year old is in no way shape or form capable of marriage. Let alone a 10 year old Girl!

I wonder, couldn't the father buy him a new Wii instead?!

i was playing PS2 with my second cousin who is 11 years old today, im shocked, he is 11 and he married his cousin..they should be best friends and playing waterfight! couples,, this is insane..

In Arabic it is said "هم بضحك و هم بيبكي", I am 26 years old and have a lot of things to accomplish before I even think of getting married.

Talking serious, this is insane!!! is this accepted in Islam? please forgive my ignorance, but this is not good, does this boy understand what is he getting himself into? marriage is love, commitment and responsibility. I believe his father should buy him a Barby!!!

ziad is 6yo and he wants to marry my cousin 4yo maybe i should do what this father did and have a wedding for my son...ok seriously this is pathetic...what does an 11 yo know about marriage...i just heard that a friend's son just go engaged..he is 15yo for god's sake and does not even know the girl...he is canada she is in jordan..and i thought that was crazy! sheesh..

Qwaider, They should make it required for a country to have an age of consent law 16 or higher to allow them to join the UN. I don't understand how the parents are so happy about this, and what's with marriage is going to help me study !

wallahi this is horrifying. how the hell can the parents of BOTH live with themselves? 11yrs old and 12 yrs old?
what the hell do they know about marriage? or even sex for that matter?
