The Victor: Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.1)

And this is before Mac OS 10.5.2 update. Vista SP1 or XPSP3. It's also a shame that they didn't include the awesome Mac OS (Tiger)

I hope they run a rematch after the new Service Packs are released

There are a bunch of stuff that I really don't agree with, lie for example. On networking, Vista out performs XP and everything else in the list and blows them off the water. In addition it's the only OS that has (Network access protection) NAP out of the box. Now that's an Awesome feature if you ask me!

Same goes for security, Vista's security is better than that. In fact, it's TOO good at times. It was made fun of in the Mac-vs-PC commercials for that, explicitly.

Well, for this battle, the victor has been named. It might not be the same in the next battle

    Anyway, read more here...

    See :) Victory is mine!
For me the drivers (for games) and the 3rd party software (for everything else) are the most important categories.

I guess the price and installation you only have to go through once every several years, and the interfaces is usually a matter of habit.
I don't agree with the results for "Installation", "Interface", and "Bundled Software".

Although i am not a big Ubuntu fan, but come on, it only takes 5 mouse clicks to install that OS. It couldn't be any easier than that. Not only that, you can freaking install it on a Mac & a PC. It is definitely much easier to install than any windows version i've ever seen. AFAIK, MacOS comes installed by default on mac machines, so that is an uneven comparison. Try installing it on a PC and then talk :-) ... not you Qwaider, the PC Mag guys.

As for Interface and Bundled Software, well again, come on!! All linux users are always boasting about their shiny desktops and user interfaces. Heck, there are entire websites that are totally devoted to *just* uploading screenshots of new linux releases as they come out. Not to mention, Compiz-Fusion 3d desktop, that UI trumps anything that you can get on Windows or Mac.

With that said, i agree with the rankings in other categories.

I agree with Hani... that is why I love XP and think it is one of the most robust OS out there.

Linux isn't ready to be used by the masses. Especially with so many "disagreements" and different versions it drives people nuts. I think Linux is going to be used by a certain niche for a long time to come.

Honestly I haven't had any Mac hands-on till now, even though I used it a couple of times briefly for something.

But until it plays games, I can't switch! Damn DirectX!

"In addition it's the only OS that has (Network access protection) NAP out of the box. Now that's an Awesome feature if you ask me!"

I think you are missing the point, they are reviewing the OS for consumers which will never use the NAP feature you are talking about. So if you ask me it's a very stuipd feature that in order to get to work you need to install a lot Windows servers to support it!
You don't need windows Server to support NAP, you can do it with Cisco's NAC. It doesn't matter who supplies the server Microsoft/Cisco/Juniper as long as it ensures that you are SAFE and you are safe to "talk" to over the network

Nap, is one of the most important security features ever envisioned. But don't take my word for it, ask Cisco! I'm sure you trust them, I sorta do

And the great thing is that I'm running Mac OS X and Windows via Parallels, so I can have my awesome operating system and all the ingenuity that comes with it, and also run my games and the odd app that was made only for Windows.  Cha-ching.
    Smart move Dave!
My exact thought. Why should anyone be restricted to ONE!? But the thing is, Mac OS is really not available for the run in the mill gardens-street-assembled PC. So for the rest of the world, is Windows/linux

But ALL of these are about to get a reality check! ALL of them are based on 40 and 50 year old OS theories and technologies and there are a bunch of efforts to write, from scratch, new state of the art OS's. Even Microsoft is making one, if this indicates anything it indicates that in few years from now even Microsoft is going to dump windows and move to their new operating system which might be based on Singularity.

It's such a sad thing for poor Linux, by the time it might start gaining ground, it will be faced with the few generations younger new OSes and in my humble opinion it doesn't have a chance!

Too much OS jargon here :)
I think by the time singularity comes out, one of your dream inventions of flying cars would have come true.

You know a company named moller (moller(dot)com) has been making a vertical take-off self flying and self-landing "skycar" since the 70s (no flying knowledge needed), and for the past 5 years they've been pushing the release date while they make modifications (right now it's dec-2008), but it'll happen. The FAA already has a specific altitude of airspace dedicated to those. Of course you can't drive the skycar as a car (planned for later), and until it has proven itself you will only be allowed to take-off and land from helipads and airports, but then helipads are just a big cricle with an H painted :)
You're such a party pooper! Let me dream Hani!!
Anyway, I was saying if a company who's bread and butter is OSs is looking into a new OS, that probably means it will come. That's all

As for sky cars, Yeah, I've seen the videos, I've seen the illustrations, and hope to see them, in my lifetime

I'm just waiting for the food replicator ala Star Trek.  I just want to tell it, "Hot chocolate" and have it materialize in front of me. :D
