People, from all over, with so much suffering, under one flag...
An Island of tranquility in an ocean of violence, chaos and instability.
Against all these odds, Jordan triumphs!
Jordan, the little kingdom, with vast human resources and scarce natural resources is rich with human spirit. Rich on determination, rich on achievement and rich of will and faith.
This is a nation that was born in the heart of the desert.
Far from perfect, with so many issues to deal with, the Jordanian society struggles to exist. Struggles to achieve, struggles to progress
Despite being plagued by poverty, corruption, tribalism, nepotism. and many other social issues from honor killings to abuse, yet the proud Jordanians refuse to continue to accept the impost realities of the modern day and age.
Yes, Gaza is still burning, Iraq is still being torn apart, bird flue is still ravaging many areas around the world, bombs are exploding here and there, earth quakes are devouring nations and countries, and Fouad Farhan (and others) are still imprisoned, there are many worthy issues around the world, At the same time, people around the world are still progressing, babies are still being born. The Sun still rises, bringing hope with it, bringing the brightness with every new day
Jordan is still home. It's still where I lay my head on the ground and not care. It's still the place where I want my kids to grow, and it's the land where I want to be buried, the dirt I seek to cover me... Where my bone will turn to dust and be back to the holy earth that we came from
Jordan, is far from perfect, Jordan is far from heaven, Jordan is far from ideal, but it's still ... against all odds ... Home...
Qu, you best said it as "Jordan is still home. It's still where I lay my head on the ground and not care". I can say the same for Syria as everyone says the same thing of their home country.
Home is home - you don't need a visa, you don't need your cultural defenses, you don't need "translation-faces". All you need to do is EXIST because everyone else there does!
Bless our homes, and our bigger home, the Arab World!
So touching... 2ash3ar badani ya zalameh :-) when germans love germany, and french love france, and english love england, all is normal... what is faith if you saw God!! It is easy to love a rich, prosperous country... love as a taker... But Jordan, inspite of the deserted land, the poor land... the lack of resaources... we still love it, because its Jordan...
i agree with everything except the "extreme diversity part. What diversity? we are about 90% sunni arabs. Switzerland is diverse. Lebanon is diverse. India is diverse with over 100 languages and dozens of religions. In Jordan, diversity is political and is nurtured by a political establishment that thrives on dividing Jordanian society. They only feel safe when Jordanians are reduced to bunch of fighting tribes. as a matter of fact, the divisions in Jordan are so deep and contrived one must admire the satanic genius of the regime. north vs south. east bank vs. west bank. islamists vs. blah blah. it's understandable when your natural enemies (imperialism and colonialism) are your friends that you seek substitute enemies to unite your power base around you by scaring them off and pitting Jordanians against jordanains.
Jordan, is far from perfect, Jordan is far from heaven, Jordan is far from ideal, but it's still ... against all odds ... Home...
as much as i am angry due to the situation now in Jordan, all that you said: honor killings, prices and corruption. It's still home! and I am very proud to say I am Jordanian whenever i am asked

So3aad Jordan is far from perfect. There are many forces at work, but despite all of that, it's still an oasis of tranquility when the whole region around it has gone up in flames few times over. Diversity doesn't -only- mean that you must have so many different nationalities or religions. It also means different sects, tribes, origins and, yes, yes, religions. Jordan does have a Sunni majority, in fact it's mostly Sunni, but there are also Christians. On the origins front, you've got, Jordanian, Palestinians, Syrians, Saudi, Lebanese, Iraqi, Egyptian, Moroccan, Kurdish, Turkish, Circassians, Chechnyans, Armenians, Persians, Greek and probably a few others from all over the world, they actually moved there and made it home. And that means diversity is alive and well in Jordan. On the tribal front there are many tribes that appear to be united, so again, this is another face of diversity here. Finally, women in Jordan, have a greater role in the social life, and building the culture probably as good as or almost as good as the best in the region. But there is a lot that is left to be desired in that front, and I hope things get better with time
By the way, thank you for your valuable feedback, don't feel shy from keeping it coming
