Remember what I said about the little love switch? That magical switch that you flip on to love people flip off to hate them. Flip on to accept just about anything from them. Or flip off to stop accepting anything even the slightest of jokes?

How I wish I could have a similar switch for unknowing people. Click, poof, they're no longer there.

I'm sure we've all met people that we regretted even knowing at some point. Yet, they continue to be there, wasting precious long term memory brain cells and buried in the huge archive room in your brain. However, there's a thing about memories associated to pain. They linger the most.

It's probably a defense mechanism that human developed. Any traumatic event is stored in great detail and might cause episodes of anxiety as it resurfaces. Although this is the extreme case. But these mechanisms are instrumental in human survival. Pain = Bad = stay away and you will survive. Don't forget that.

The same thing can be said about emotional pain. This doesn't have to be associated with a love relationship but rather any relationship. Even among friends or relatives. The source of pain is irrelevant, most of the time it will have a lasting annoying memory trail after it.

Wouldn't it be great if people can selectively delete some memories!? Or magically pluck them out from our brains into a Pensieve?

    // weird side note...
// I wonder if Google are going to ever release their search engine for personal human thoughts too!
    // end of weird

Unfortunately, we don't have such luxury. We're doomed to coexist with other creatures that we hate, in the intimacy of our own brains. As their memories keep popping in our minds from time to time

    Memories....

lol @ the side note! They might do that :P who knows ?!

and you are always welcome for a blow on ur head! I can cause u amnesia if it would help but I think that we come across such people for a reason , it might be to learn not to be like them!
If u ignore these people they won't be remembered that much , they might actually be forgotten and that part of our memory can be used to add newer cooler people :P
    Lostwithin!!
Inti l7i2tee ?? I JUST posted this! WOW!
As far as I know, most amnesia is not permanent :( and it's not selective!
    I want Dumbledore's Pensieve
    based on your weird wish:
    1. now, when we say "Click, poof, they're no longer there." do you mean from your life wella from this whole world??
    2. if we actually got the ability to erase these people from our life and minds, how can you be sure not to meet the same person over and over and over again?? i mean the "Pain = Bad = stay away and you will survive. Don't forget that." is the only way to stay way and not get hurt again, right??
last, time can take care of everything, we can remember them once in a blue moon, but after a while, you don't feel the same, the only thing that lasts is what you learned :)
    .. ma3lesh sa7yen mmn el el 5am o msatleh!! :)
    saba7 el 5ear.. :)
    lol!
lucky me ! first to read and comment :D

well, u have to have bad memories to cherish and appreciate good ones...
how would u appreciate being happy if u simply never tasted being sad, allah la ye2ader...
but i wouldnot second u reg the pensieve....our memories would be BORING!!!
    peace...
I think pain can build character.

Think of someone who has lived a sheltered life, we all know people like that. What happens when they are released into the real world. People eat them for lunch and spit them out.

Of course this is not to say pain will necessarily make you a better person. It all depends on how you deal with it.
I have written a similar post about a friend.. my problem is that I can delete a person and his memories from my mind and move on but the problem is the minute I see him/her all the rage and anger comes at once it even hurts.. i hate that person all over again and i hate my self for that feeling..
but i think that because of that person and because what he/she has done, i was able to stop other people from doing the same thing to me even without knowing.. and i think that the younger you are the easier you will learn, get over the pain, and move on..

You can create an alter ego who is oblivious to those imbeciles you speak of. That way you can switch and they go poof!
wallahi ya Sam amnesia can be selective AND permanent, u have to work at it tho lol

personally speaking, i blocked the memories of several years out of my mind and everytime i get flashbacks or ppl speak of anything to remind me of em, i intentionally and sub/consciously block it again. same with ppl.. training/self programming is all there is to it..

our brain usage is limited, id rather not waste it on ppl who only cause negativity wherever they go! i dont tend to regret anything, coz every bad experience made me learn sth, mostly bout myself.
I think its physically impossible to forget people like that but having them not get to you is the trick. If they dont fit your criteria, they dont deserve your time. Put a line through their name and continue...
You too can have your Memories Documented
