hey qwaider, do nails and hair keep growing even after death??? i can understand and believe that during coma or sleep, but after death, dunno...noone ever told me so before?? plz advise, dear??

    Jad and The caller,
I will Give the FIRST PERSON who proves that this has been mentioned before (Ahel Al Kahaf and the Taqleeb part) ANYWHERE in the world before today. You have 3 days

Afaf, yes dear they continue to grow. this is a well known fact

    Salam,

I'm not trying to spoil your discovery or anything. I'm just aiming for the $100.

    Peace
    Here is another one:

Can you send the $100 by western Union? the Blue copy please.

You know, This is awesome, The only way to get real answers is to put a price on it!
Although this is not exactly the same idea (Al Jalaleen is using only half the argument twice. It's more of both, poor circulation leading to blistering that gets infected) but I concede that this is too close for me to claim I was the first.
I'll send you a private Email right now

    Gosh I'm so excited :)

"Though hair and fingernails appear to keep growing after death, this is merely a morbid optical illusion at work. In death the human body dehydrates severely, retracting enough skin to expose more nail and hair."

check dr. 3bd el basett mohamed..;)
    WOW :D

I am laughing so hard. I don't even know why!

Rasha, You're right, I should take Death out of the equation. Only when a person is alive hair and nails grow. I will note the change

TheCaller, "Shabat"= Dill weed (I think)
You're just bitter that Palforce got the $100 and you didn't ;-) You're a sore loser dude.

Just to let you know Palforce has donated this money to my nearest Masjed (I will make the donation tonight at Ishaa) and post back confirming.

Now I will post something to make all of you feel better
Ok, the article has been updated.

I am a doctor working in the intensive care unit, most, if not all, of the patients admitted in my department are in an unconsciouss state, and yes, the nurses must turn patients on thier left side and right side frequently to hinder the formation of "DECUBITES" which is exactly what you described, the eating away of flesh.

    Sob7an allah.

Please don't take it as a sign of disrespect, but why did you assume that you'd be scared from looking at the dead because their nails are grown and not for any other reason(being dead) ?

Actually, you would be scared because the look dead, but breathing and they were sleeping with thier eyes open. And with Dust covering thier grown hair and nails. They look like monsters.
So they actually look like Zombies. And those would freak the hell out of "most"

I really enjoyed reading this, Qwaider. Like someone else mentioned, you still deserve credit for pondering this verse and coming up with this explanation by yourself without the help of any outside source. The mind is truly the best gift Allah has granted to mankind. JAK for sharing!
    Nice post....

Every one made all the nice comments and won all the money ...alas

But I still have two comments or opinions of my own

1- Personally when trying to analyze a verse of Qura'an or a Hadeath I would use the phrase ( it appears to me that ....or it appears to be the reason) because  can I be sure that the reason Allah was moving them from one side to the other is for their blood circulation or what ever reason?. No we can't because Allah does not need apparent reasons ...so it would be more correct to say ...that it appears to us that the reason for the regular movement was ..etc.

2-I know you did not try to stick a scientific discovery to the Quran ...but still just like people to be more careful with scientific discoveries ...Because if a fact was proven wrong after 10 or 15 years does this mean that the Qura'an was wrong?! the Qura'an is a book or guidance not a scientific book and that is not down side ...it is what it was intended to be, some people try to cure cancer and other diseases with verses from the Qura'an and when I make the comment that I don't really believe in that I would be accused of not being a believer .

Sorry talked to much! this is a bit longer than a comment should be ....excuse the female tendensy to blabber : )
WOW Tamara. I swear to god these are my exact thoughts on these subjects
For your #1 comment. I agree with you absolutely, it was short sight on my side, and in the future I will stick with your advice

For #2, WOW! all parts of it. I agree with you 100% not only that. I actually keep saying those very words. And tried to Avoid proving science with the Quran. For the later part of that comment. Again you're 100% correct. I don't believe that reading Quran is going to treat illnesses. It would however sooth your soul and give you a better mood. Maybe that will help, but it will not kill a germ or a virus. Nor would it heal wounds or mend bones.
Masha2allah 3alaiki! It's rare to find people who understand the soul of the text instead of the literal side of it. And by the way, regarding the healing with Quran, I heard this very point from a Scholar from Al Azhar, and he said that believing in Quran in this fashion is a considered a minor shirk, because health is from god
    asalam 3alaykom,
jazaky allah keir tamara..you are precise!!
i like your calm responds too cause i lack that yet admire it in others..
regarding healing with quran..again i agree with you especialy after quwaider's good point that health is from allah, but wether the words of allah can heal or not..that i don't know but it's more than enough to say that allah heals..with or with out reasons..and regarding that i have a story:
moussa (PBUH) was ill one day and because he was kaleem allah he asked allah to cure him so, allah sob7anaho wa ta3ala guided him to a tree and he told him to eat from it..he ate and he was cured..when he got sick again he went directly to the tree and ate from it but this time he didn't feel any better,so he asked allah and allah the almighty said..i make it the reason to cure and if you seek recovery without asking me it would never cure..
excuse me sir for taking too much space..
    Glad you agree... : )

Did you by any chance delete my comment regarding the whole scientific miracles in Quran, and regarding the previous article "wake up and smell the coffee"? It was supposed to be the fourth comment, and I was wondering if you chose to delete it...
"Still Mistaken" I didn't delete it, I think you were under "Mistaken and ....etc" instead of still mistaken
