How come I can eat a sandwich, talk on the cell phone, drink coffee AND look at my PC from time to time while I'm driving in the US

And not be able to do any of that in Jordan? Not due to lack to trying. But it's a physical impossibility!

While driving on the highway, I see people drinking coffee, shaving, applying lipstick, some even reading the newspaper. Not that these are acceptable behaviors or anything. God I've done some stupid stuff. But it's just possible!

In Jordan, I remember how difficult it was to even light a cigarette and not get in a fatal crash! Or worse god forbid you had a sandwich, or a drink!

It doesn't matter if you're a good driver or not, or if your car has automatic transmission or not. There's just no time to do these things while driving! Especially while driving in Jordan, unless someone is being completely suicidal!

And I wonder, why is that?!

Lucky you!! I can't even talk to someone sitting next to me while driving here!! Or else I'd loose my way in a blink! It's more than enough for me to focus on wut the navi. tells me to do :p

LOOOOOOL, i'm just like you! i can do so many thing while driving :) drinking talking, playing around with my IPod :D el 7amdolla i'm being careful, but in Jordan!! i have to be fully focused o yaaaaaaa doooooooob!!! o m3 heak i got into 2 accidents :S !!!

well buddy im afraid ur just not a good driver as u think u r, i never driven outside of jordan, and i used to have lunch while driving, and hey, some tea wouldnt hurt :) jordan road is my favorite spot
yeah i went into accidents before: i spilled the coffee once on the side seat :( but thats just about it

It doesn't only have to do with driving! It's about everything and anything! how come I wake up in the morning, go swim or jog, then cycle for at least 20km, then come back and still feel energetic and hyper when in Jordan, I wake up, lay on the couch and feel too lazy to go get a cup of water or juice when I feel like it!!?! I do feel with you walla..

True, but I still can do it here and I don't feel that much danger. The roads are so tolerant to my mistakes

In Jordan, it's not that tolerant at all as you mentioned, it's sooo dangerous!

because even if you're Mario Andretti, if the drivers around you are as reckless as the average Amman driver, you're gonna need all your concentration to get your car home in one piece.

Reminds me of my friend who applies her makeup while driving and drives me crazy at the same time :)
She already got some concentration problems while driving so applying her mascara on the highway doesn’t help..…policemen are very strict here, they fine you when using the cell without earpiece.. it happened to her a couple of times and still ma bet7arem..

Yep, that's EXACTLY IT! There's NO WAY anyone no matter how great their driving skills are, there's no way that they can navigate the streets of Amman, without being 100% focused. It's that hard (and dangerous)

I see soooo many like your friend over here, but the streets are tolerant. In Jordan, NO WAY!
Again, strict police didn't do much to stop all the madness in UAE streets, I think it's the attitude that needs to shift
