350 million years ago, a massive extinction wiped out the face of this planet of 95% of all it's life. 65 million years ago another massive extinction wiped out the largest animals to roam the face of this plant. Scientist predict all soft of possible apocalyptic visions from global warming, to fossil oil depletion, to a massive meteors or comets hitting earth. To Artificial intelligence taking over the world and pushing humanity towards extinction. That's all of course if humans don't wipe out everything in a world war 4 or some super bug that we develop in our own labs. In these apocalyptic visions of the world, one idea keeps resonating

    The lucky ones die first!

Does anyone want to live in any post apocalyptic vision no matter how "lucky" people think they are?

The question here is, "Is there life after technology!?"

The easy answer is, not for modern humans, most have grown up in the luxuries that most kings didn't have few hundred years ago.

No running water, no sanitary plumbing, no electricity nothing... Just survival of the fittest!

Sometimes, I wonder if certain species grew so a acclimated to their surroundings that made it easier for them to go extinct than try and adapt.

Sure, humans are a great species, they were able to adapt over tens of thousands of years. But just to put that in perspective, the cockroaches were there 200 million years before the first human walked the earth.

Have we become so acclimated to our new environment, as we marvel at our technological achievement we forget that if anything was to happen to our world, we will probably not last... or want to last!

I guess my theory here is not survival of the fittest, it's survival of the unlucky.

Actually few weeks ago I read an article about a research where they have found that humans easily cope and adapt with any situation and establish a routine easily with their new environment. I'll try to digg it out. Imagine yourself being stranded on an Island or locked up in some place. People do adapt.

I think the main concern will be the access to medicine and water. Hundred years ago a 50 years old human was the big hajj ever in the whole country.

An Internet addict? Spam messages will become your thing ;)

    See, you'll survive

I meant sending spam messages in bottles!

    Adapt not adopt (line 2)
    Fixed it for you firas.

I do agree that we do adapt, but we only have what, few tens of thousands of years as our track record? The dinosaurs roamed the planet for 60 million years. And went bye-bye! Maybe some events will make it so difficult that it's really the first are the lucky ones

You call cockroaches unlucky? These [censored words to avoid spam filter] can't just die!

I think they will only get bigger and overrun the universe.
No I call the humans who have to eat the damn cockroaches unlucky :). The lucky ones died in the first wave
Don't knock eating cockroaches until you've tried it!

    j/k :D

The moral of the story, don't have kids !
hahahahaha....go Hani!!! (the dont-have-kids part, not the coakroaches!)
    Hani and Tinker
Yes, I think it's going to be a very tough world for our kids
    I completely agree on that!
