Yamli, the "2oktob 3arabi" company. Which allows the users to write using a method called "3arabizi" which is the Arabic sounds but written using the english Alphabet with some number substitutions for letters that don't exist have launched yet another fascinating service...

I am so fascinated by the work of Yamli, the way they render the Arabic letters. The way they have came up with the idea to actually help people who struggle with the Arabic keyboard awkward layout.
The idea behind it is simple, have any of you ever used a technology called Milti-Tap, iTap, T9 or any other Predictive Text input? Where the letters can be inferred from the use of numbers on the phone. Well, this is very similar.
A database contains all the possible Arabic words, with all possible prefixes, and suffixes and additional in-word decorations. (Which is not that big of a database, the Arabic SonyEriccson, and Nokia phones come preloaded with these). Once the words are in the database, and an association is drawn between the letters and thier counterparts in the language. They create a match
The effort is FASCINATING to say the least, it's outstanding. Something that should have been done by the stupid folks in windows many years ago as part of their Arabic keyboard driver (I heard from some reliable sources, Japanese and Korean have similar keyboards based on the sound of the letters)
Anyway, enough techno-jargon, enjoy your Yamli
Here's what I would advise the Yamli folks to do next. Licence your API or allow website owners (other than Facebook) to use your editor on their sites. I for one would be very happy to add it to my blog
