I don't feel I'm happy any more, or at least, not as happy as I was just few days ago when I got used to waking up to a full house. Kids, nephews, nieces, parents, all noisy, warm they fill life with so much happiness and joy. Somehow the happiness of the little ones is imprinted on the older people. It helps us remember how it used to be care-free, how we used to be children, laughing our lungs out as we bleed from our knees while we're playing

The older I get, the less I'm impressed with this life, the less happy I am. I can say that I'm only happy when I'm around my family. The kids, their noise, their screams. Their constant nagging and shouting ... Khalo.... Khalo... I have no idea why does that noise bring so much happiness to me...

Yesterday, as I was watching my family on the best invention in the world (IP Camera), the little ones discovered that one of the older nephews have shaved his head.  And they started a little demonstration at the grandparent's house ... "Sal3a .... Sal3a... " (Skinhead, skinhead) They were so excited about it ... they brought tears in my eyes as I watched them

Anything can be considered a source of joy, something on TV, something dropping, someone making a funny noise .. anything, and everything is laughing stock.

I look outside my window, to one of the most beautiful seen in the world, the lake that forms my back yard, and although it's gorgeous, I can't feel the happiness that baba's house has .... Where the dynamic human entertainment outweighs all this beauty

Which brings me to my point ....

Beauty can fascinate you for few moments, but it doesn't mean happiness. It wouldn't give you a single smile when you need one. Unlike family, which is all that, beauty, warmth, and genuine happiness, even from the silliest and most noisy of things.

    Memories....

Don't be sad sam, you'll see them again soon. Look on the bright side, at least you can see them through your computer screen whenever you need to. I know it's not the same, but it helps. Cheer up :)

If you're always feeling this way then it's probably time to sort out your priorities. If being around family comes in first place, then there's more than one way to beat around the bush and make it happen!

That's life for you: can't have it all.
We were very happy thank you very much in London. It's one of the most amazing & lively cities in the world. One day I got a phone call from my mum telling me that my father passed away suddenly. Worst feeling ever. There was no way I could make it in time to say my last goodbye. My only consolation was that we've just returned from the summer holiday & the kids had a chance to get to know him properly even though for just two months. They still talk fondly about their memories with him whenever we talk about him. After that day, we decided it's time to move back & allow our kids & their grandmothers to enjoy each other's company while they still can.
I'm just stating this as an example of how life isn't perfect & if you really know what makes you happy, then don't delay taking action.
May Allah grant your parents a long, happy & healthy life to see your children & your children's children :)
:'( Mona, you made me cry reading this :(
Don't you think that's the hidden message between my lines that makes me want to burst in tears every time I think about this just on the fear that it might happen :(

    Oh god :(

Q, sorry!! I didn't mean to make you so sad! After all, every person has a limited time on this earth & we will never guess when a dear one will depart. Believe me, there are days when I wish that we can go back to life in England (poor Khaled has that feeling every day!) but deep down I know we made the right choice. My husband lived the the UK for 17 years & then said: what is the use of all my knowledge if I don't use it to help my country & my people? So here he is, battling on a daily basis with red tape & backward-thinking dinosaurs at the university, but feeling a great sense of achievement when he sees his students learning something new every day. InshaAllah you'll be guided to make the right decision for YOU,because whatever we say, only you know what is the right choice.
I know What you mean... I'm going through the exact same thing now... it's either something in Amman's air and water (or just the cold adding to the depression of people), or there must be something really going on.
Anyway... no one will help you snap out of it but you!
Thanks Kinzi and Mona... It's so tough at times

    Sara7a,
I can only snap out of illusions. Not factual things that are forced upon me. This is the fact of life around me ...
