So, I went to this place, stayed for few hours, and on my way out I find this dude standing next to my car. He cheers up to see me, so I don't get feeling all weird and he asks me "Qwaider, how are you?". "I'm fine, good" I hesitate. So he proceeds to introduce himself, "I'm so and so your neighbour" I was thinking, hmmm, "Ahlan, are you So and so's brother?" He replies yes, so I reply. "You were very young when I left Jordan, you've grown and became a man".
We both laugh, few awkward moments pass by and he is like. "Your right front tire is flat". I was like "oh thanks, did you just notice that?", and he replied "No, I saw it four hours ago", "And I decided to warn you"
He's been waiting 4 hours outside of the place I was in and he recognized my RENTED car!! I was really grateful! He even started helping me change the tire
Then he said, "I always wanted to grow up to be like you"!
That almost made me cry!
His older brothers didn't pursue higher education, their father died while they were young and their mother took charge. The older brothers didn't have a chance at higher education. But ended up very successful business men! Which is a great thing.
That was one of the moments where I would look at Jordan and just love the dirt on the floor. I mean, WHERE in USA the neighbour would go through so much trouble just to warn their neighbor that they have a flat?
The whole neighborhood, of this eastern Amman part, is like one big family! It amazes me at times!
Now to what I despise!
As I was driving through Abdoun, a police car came by siren on, flashing lights, I thought the world was about to end as I gave way to the police car that appears to be in an urgent mission to save and protect.. Few meters ahead they pulled over this Land Rover, I thought this guy is going to get it. He's definitely going to be maced, Tazed and beaten for whatever he's done.
The Guy rushes out of the Land Rover, and meets the officer when starts kissing him in the middle of the street! The goddamn police officer was using the sirens and the police car to go say HI to his friend! Dang! What part of "Emergency use" don't you get about the siren? And flashing light?!
Someone needs to educate our police forces that they have a JOB to do, and the cars they're riding is NOT their property. It's owned by the people, to serve the people. Not as their own private toy!
This is not the first violation, and I'm sure it's not going to be the last
Memories....
as for the police officer LOL! let him say Hi :D leah za3lan HAHAHAHA, yabayeeeee I HATE it when they do that :S
About what you despise, since you are in Amman why don't you report it to Amen FM? I've heard several complaints against the police on that radio and they were well accepted.
As for reporting it, I should probably do that, do you have their phone number?
:) I still like it
