Rated 4.6/5 stars (108 votes cast)

The amazing big screen depiction of Khaled Housaini's best seller, "The Kite Runner" will open this weekend, and oh boy am I glad to have seen it.

    Kite runner

As usual, Paramount Classic has over booked the theater. These guys suck at organizing events like this. But luckily, I was among the people with nice reserved seats in the heart of the theater. It was well worth the 45minutes queue in the cold and rain

    So the verdict?

9.5/10 on the Qwaider Scale, this is THE BEST movie of this year!

If you haven't read the story yet, I advise you to pick one up ASAP, this is one amazing emotional cliffhanger that will keep you asking for more

The most amazing job done in this movie has been certainly by the Casting team. Oh my god, for someone like me who comes from the middle east, and know how people look around here. OH MY GOD (again), they selected people that are PERFECT for their roles. The little boys, the older men, the culture, the houses, the streets, the before and after, akh ... AWESOME would be an understatement!

The movie gave the book another dimension as you follow the kites tournaments as they soar way up high in the sky above the once thriving Kabul, the picture is stunning, the whole work is amazing.

The story in a nutshell is about two friends, a master and a servant who are very close friends. The master is great at cutting other people's kites while the servant is the best at collecting these before they fall to the ground and among this amazing optimistic vision, lies the great tragedy that casts so much contrast to the point that at times, many times, you will be battling with tears, or really harsh emotions as you follow the progress of this amazing piece of works.

The starting growing up and face different trials in their life. Forcing them to part, and then all hell brakes loose with the Soviet invasion to Afghanistan.

I don't want to ruin the joy of watching this by rehashing what went through, but I will say this. If there is ONE MOVIE that you will be seeing during this holiday season, it MUST be "The Kite Runner" hands down, the best movie, best production, best music, best story, best casting and most emotional movie of the whole year.

    Waaaaaa3 I wanna see the movie :(
I read the novel long ago, twice, and loved every single line of it, it's a must-read novel.

So, did the movie add to the novel? Was it like you imagined ppl, places, and events when reading the novel? or they gave a totally different picture?

Any chance this movie is coming to Jordan in a way or another? Any DVD release?

6b mnel a5er, any link to a trailer tasleeket 7al?

yes yes, it's a must see trust me. The movie adds a serious dimension to the story. That's why I think it's not like the usual "movie is barely 50 percent of the story" I'm sure you'll enjoy it
The subtitled part (which is not in English) also adds a kick and a dimension to the story.
The worldwide release was supposed to be in November, but it got delayed, so now it will release on Dec14th
I hope it gets to Jordan soon. It's really a good movie

    Ola,
I hope so, I know you will love it. And you'll probably enjoy translating it too :)
    Stephen
Some actors are from Afghanistan, and I hear a few are from Pakistan and Iran.
The casting of this movie is splendid! I've not seen anything as good as that. The boys, the characters seem to be real! It's just, amazing!

I have just bought this novel from Amazon site and  am really looking forward to reading during Christmas holiday.

Do you think  it is better to read the book before I watch the movie or it does not matter?
I just hope it's better than the novel.
The novel is 60% good. the last part is stupid and ridiculous. I hope they took it out in the movie.

Do they show the part after he gets the mysterious call from Pakistan? where he has to go back to Afghanistan under the Taliban and do Rambo-like mission?
Actually, he gets the call at the beginning of the movie. I don't want to ruin the dramatic handling of the story
And I think it was a little better than the story itself. But I'm a little bit biased to movies :)
I have to see it then..

there are many movies I wana see this new year vacation like Hitman, Beowulf , American gangster , Saw IV and the golden compass.
