Going over the Jordanian news Ammon(Arabic),Addustour,and alrai , and I find my self not very surprised that history has repeated it self. Another baby, found almost dead in the dumpster, all I could think of is, how can any person leave their child turning blue of the cold and leave them like that!? Or did they think that abandoning them close to Abdoun they will ensure a better future for them!?

It does mean that we have one less [dis]honor crime. But it also means that we have a bigger issue!

Just look at this innocent baby!

What has he done to be welcomed to this world with being abandoned like the trash!?

The little name tag that sent shivers up my spine!

I've been hearing more and more about how teenage pregnancies are being handled in the US for the past 40 years. Most recently the movie: Juno (IMDB) which talks explicitly about a teenage mother who gets pregnant from her 15 year old study mate and decides to give her baby up for adoption to a wealthy family. AND HER FAMILY SUPPORTS HER DECISION! but most importantly the society didn't demonize her, even though it wasn't an easy thing to do.

Steve Jobs the amazing driving mental power behind Apple, Pixar, NeXT, iPhone, iPod is such a child he was adopted at birth. I am wondering. If we start pushing more and more people to understand that if the worst happened (and lets face it people, apparently it happens a lot these days) then why not give the baby up for adoption?

Many have the misconception that adoption is not allowed in Islam, but that is NOT TRUE, adoption is allowed and in fact encouraged for the underprivileged babies. What's is not allowed is calling them your own, and that's not a big deal!

There is nothing wrong, with adoption. It might be God's answer to a desperate couple's prayer, and a life line for a helpless child.

The main idea is simply to provide a chance of parenthood to couples that don't have that chance. This will accomplish couple of things

The child will LIVE
Divorce based on infertility will be almost eradicated(hopefully)

For all of this to happen, there needs to be some updates to the civil law. Clause that allow for adoption, or make it easier. Clause that encourage people to give children more for adoption. A way to make the process easier, confidential and painless for both biological and adopted parents. But most importantly, amendments to make sure that people will be deterred from abandoning children in such ways by having them charged with murder of the first degree for their attempted infanticide

Coupling all of that with an awareness campaign, proper sexual education at schools and at home. Only then maybe we might ave resolved this whole issue

I believe Germany had a similar problem and they implemented a program a couple of years ago to preserve these dumped children. They opened a shelter with a "drop off box" where unwanted children could be left, no questions asked, and no interaction whatsoever to maintain anonymity. The whole purpose was to prevent the death of these innocent dumped children from being left out in dumpsters.
Looks like it's time for our society to borrow more German technology!

The poor baby :( i still can't believe it happened one time, now twice?? unfortunately this makes me think how many other babies were less fortunate and were not discovered?

God have mercy on us. I agree 100% with what you said. For God's sake get an abortion! i know it is still 7aram but it is more acceptable than killing a breathing soul.

Yes absolutely ... this piece of news depressed me and angered me at the same time ... some people are praying everyday to be blessed with a child and these monsters and dumping their babies in the trash ... I say: those people are trash to do such a thing ...

So yeah ... Please give LIFE a chance

o gosh how horrible!! why couldnt they just put the baby at the door of an orphanage..or leave him at the hospital...why in the garbage?? 7aram 3aleehom..how can someone have a body inside of her and just throw him like that...didnt she feel the baby kick..uggh..makes me sick! last year in canada a baby was left at an older couples' door steps...in -30 degree weather..thankfully the man went outside for some reason and found the baby still warm...the mother was found and charged...there are simil programs in canada..a baby can be left at a hospital, fire station or police station with no questions asked..the hospitals here should do something like that..and yeh people can still adopt...but make it an open adoption...:( i hope the baby finds a good home..and allah yjazi his irrisponsilbe parents..

There are many Western couples that would love to adopt a child and do so from many underprivileged countries. One of the problems that I hear, however, is that Jordan does not allow adoption, especially to non-Muslim couples. So scratch that idea.

What the hell happened to the old fashion of dropping unwanted children at the door steps of an orphanage, mosque, church etc. How frozen-hearted can this child's mother be?! For God's sake! He has been growing inside you for nine months, how can u put him fe kees zbaleh!

Noth that someone who threw a baby in a dumpster is worried about whether adoption is allowed in Islam, but I'm not sure if that option (putting a baby up for adoption) is available, or if orphanages will take babies !

I think the parents needed the "day after" pill, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Adoption (To legally make another person's child your own regardless of whether that child's parents are known or unknown) is completely Haram ( not allowed ) in Islam, But if one adopts a child, without changing his/her name, just to educate him/her and take care of him/her since this child has no guardian or because he/she is poor, then this is permissible. The reward is greater if this child is an orphan.
Also a child can't be adopted or raised by non- muslim coples as Dave mentioned.

The child looks Asian. Anyways, look Jordan has become a big country and the population has doubled, so we are witnessing more of these things. So no need to run screaming : Repent people, look what we are turning into!

Look, lets say 0.00001 of the population will do such thing. So 30 years ago when Jordan was 3.5 mil that is 35 cases , no Jordan is about 7 mil (Jor and non) so 0.00001*7 , and you got the number doubled, meaning more cases. Besides, we are more open to the world now.

Relax people we are still a conservative society and I hope it doesn't change.

What kind of sex education are you calling for?

I agree if it is to increase awareness among youths for not having sex before marriage. Or do not be in place where you could be in position to commit adultery. But I disagree if is for teaching them about condom or using pills to prevent pregnancy like in Europe and Tunisia.

I think there is no need to change civil law to suit these couples who dare acommit adultery. it is not our society fault.
We shoudl make it hard on them to make them think 100 tims before they do it .

Yes, I'm aware of the fatwa. As I said, calling the child your own is NOT ALLOWED in Islam (thanks for the link) But if you don't know his parents there is nothing wrong in raising him as your own child. If and when the parents appear, he can claim his parents.

Sex education needs to be mandatory. People MUST understand the consequences. We are leaving this as a fertile ground for "friends" "Internet" and "Satellite TV stations" to fill in the gaps and fill our youth with disasters waiting to happen!

Qwaider, i like that counter thingy :) , it's fancy, tells you how many letters and words, and you know what i like the best about it, the word "letter" becomes "letters" after the first letter, and "word" becomes "words" after the first word as well, i bit it's a lot of work for such a tiny thing :D

محافظة العاصمة بتاريخ 3 - 11 - 2007 زواجا بقرار اداري للشاب والفتاة المتورطين في قضية طفل الحاوية بحي المصاروة في جبل عمان التي وقعت قبل قرابة شهرين.
وبحسب مصدر مطلع في المحافظة فان قرار زواج الشاب والفتاة تم اتخاذه بعد ضمان موافقة كلا العائلتين ، اضافة الى التزام الشاب بالزواج من الفتاة واتخاذ الكفالات العدلية والمالية على الطرفين حفاظا على سلامة الشابين بعد رفع الحاكم الاداري لقرار التوقيف الذي اتخذه للحفاظ على سلامتهم وأمنهم الشخصي وافراجه عنهما. ووفقا لما علمته "الدستور" فان زواج الشابين تم وسط فرحة عائلية شارك فيها العائلتان ووجهاء من أهل الخير ساعدوا على اصلاح ذات البين بين الطرفين.

وتسمح القوانين الادارية للحاكم الاداري في مثل هذه القضية حلها بموجب التوافق بين الطرفين - عائلتي الشاب والفتاة - في حال اتفقا على حل الزواج. ومن المعلوم ان الاشهر الاخيرة شهدت عددا كبيرا من هذا النوع من القضايا كان اخرها قضية طفلة جسر عبدون قبل يومين ، ويجدر ذكره ان محافظة العاصمة وفقا لما قاله مصدر مطلع اجرت قرابة 15 زواجا اداريا خلال العام الحالي لعدد من مختلف القضايا التي حدثت ضمن هذا الشأن.

وبحسب المسطرة القانونية لهذا النوع من القضايا فانها تحال فور انتهاء التحقيق بها من مديرية الشرطة الى المدعي العام ويسند المدعي العام في اغلب الاحوال للمتورطين بهذا النوع من القضايا تهمة الزنا ، وكان مدعي عام عمان وجه للشاب المتورط بقضية طفل حاوية جبل عمان تهمة الزنا وترك الطفل وتعريض حياته للخطر.

وللمرة الثانية خلال يومين لكن هذه المرة في منطقة الدجنية بمحافظة المفرق عثرت اجهزة الامن العام صباح امس على طفل حديث الولادة بجانب احدى مظلات الركاب لموقف باصات. وبين مصدر امني رفض الكشف عن اسمه لـ"الدستور" ان احد المواطنين قام بابلاغ شرطة محافظة المفرق بوجود طفل حديث الولادة داخل كيس بلاستيكي حيث تحركت على الفور مجموعة من افراد الشرطة التي قامت بدورها بنقل الطفل الى مستشفى المفرق الحكومي. واضاف المصدر انه تم تقديم الاسعافات الاولية اللازمة له وحالته العامة حسنة ، وبدأ التحقيق لمعرفة والدي الطفل. (الدستور)- فارس الحباشنة ونايف المعاني.

أردنية تقتل مولودها غير الشرعي وترميه بالصرف الصحي بمساعدةأمها
عمّان- وكالات

بعد ساعات من إعلان اكتشاف طفل حديث الولادة في كيس قمامة كان يصارع البرد في إحدى طرقات العاصمة الأردنية، عثرت السلطات الأمنية الثلاثاء 4-12-2007، على طفل حديث الولادة ميت، ملقى في أحد شبكات الصرف الصحي في بلدة الشونة الجنوبية أقصى غرب الأردن.

وبسبب وقوع الحادث في قرية صغيرة، تمكنت الأجهزة الأمنية من الكشف عن هوية أم الطفل، فتمت مداهمة منزلها الذي كانت متواجدة فيه أمها وخالها.

وبينت التحقيقات الأولية أن والدة الطفل كانت قد أقامت علاقة غير شرعية مع عامل عربي في البلدة. وبعد الولادة، قامت جدة الطفل بخنقه وقتله، ثم تعاونت مع والدته وخاله بإلقائه في شبكة الصرف الصحي للتخلص منه.

وتشير المعلومات الأولية إلى أنه تم إلقاء الطفل الضحية بالشبكة عن طريق حمام المنزل، وهو الأمر الذي ساعد الأجهزة الأمنية على سرعة اكتشاف مصدر الجريمة.

وكان عاملا نظافة عثرا الاثنين، أثناء عملهما في رفع القمامة بحي زهران وسط عمان، على طفل رضيع حديث الولادة بلا ملابس، داخل كيس قمامة. وتمكن العاملان اللذان كانا يكنسان شارعا، اسفل جسر عبدون المعلق، من العثور على الطفل داخل كيس قمامة اسود اللون محكم الاغلاق، ملقى على قارعة الطريق، بعد ان سمعا صراخه.

ونقلت وكالة الأنباء الأردنية الرسمية (بترا) عن رئيس قسم البيئة في عمان عمر العبادي قوله إن "الطفل كان عاريا تماما ويرتعد من شدة البرد ولونه مائل للزرقة".

ويعزو مدير المركز الثقافي الإسلامي في الجامعة الاردنية أحمد العوايشة ظاهرة إلقاء الأطفال حديثي الولادة في حاوية او كيس قمامة التي تزايدت في البلاد أخيراً إلى الرغبة في "التخلص من العار، وليس بسبب الفقر".

well there are many children around the world
who are homeless and orphaned. But this is especially sad when it is against the law for a child to be born heek!! .((ya rab oltof be 3ebadak))
