I think there's NOTHING wrong with girls who do their eyebrows .. it's AWESOME! I love it! And it's NOT Haram! Dakheel Allah!

As for guys... well we sometimes need a serious trim! But .. excessively brings femininity to the looks! I don't know. I never did it. It is kinda gay, but I wouldn't judge anyone on that!

Deema, I agree that guy who OVER DO their eye brows look a little weird, but I still recommend them to do it if it’s necessary.
About girl and eye brows… I see it as a MUST, now haram or not haram Hmm I don’t know, as one of the a7adeeth said (la3ana allaho el namesah wal motanamesah) also heard the 7adeeth (enna allah yo7ebo el mar2a el 7alsa2 el malsa2) and I guess the purpose is to feel and LOOK nice, and eye brows makes a huge different in any girl’s face.. can live without doing them…
Now which 7adeeth to follow is up to y tab3an, bs I believe that it’s a must..

It's not Haram! Because There is no Quran or Hadith that says that it's haram. Here's the hadith from Al Bukhar
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاصِلَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةَ وَالْوَاشِمَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةَ

So it doesn't include women who do their eyebrows! And others have added.. something as it was mentioned in Sunann Bau Dawood. And it is not as accurate or sa7ee7 as Al Bukhari
أخرجه أبو داود من رواية أسامة بن زيد عنه عن مجاهد عن ابن عباس فذكر الحديث المرفوع دون القصة وزاد فيه النامصة والمتنمصة وقال في آخره‏:‏ ‏"‏ والمستوشمة من غير داء ‏"‏ وسنده حسن،

"مرفوع .. و سنده حسن"

يعني ... بعيد .. كل البعد عن الحديث الصحيح
او القرآن

امّا بقية الفتاوي بالتحريم.. ففيها نظر.. لأنها من المغالاة في الدين.. و المغالاة.. تكرّه الناس في دينها.. و بدون سبب

على فكرة.. هناك حديث في البخاري .. لكنه ليس عن الرسول .. وهو نقل عن عبدالله بن مسعود. و الحديث غريب لأنه الرسول غير مذكور فيه بشكل مباشر انه "قال" و هذا نصه:
6002- باب الْمُتَنَمِّصَات

 ـ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ لَعَنَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْوَاشِمَاتِ، وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ، وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ، الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ‏.‏ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ مَا هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، وَفِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ‏.‏ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ‏.‏ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ ‏{‏وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا‏}‏‏.‏

والرسول ليس عبد الله. لكنه ذكر انه سمعة.. و لا يوجد ذكر مباشر لذات الحديث في مكان اخر..
فإذا كان هذا اجتهاد عبدالله بن مسعود.. فله ثواب اجتهاده.. لكنه لا يُلزم المسلمين.. و ليس حد من حدود الله.

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وبعد :

النامصة هي التي تأخذ من شعر حاجب غيرها وترققه ليصبح حسنًا والمتنمصة هي التي تأمر من يفعل بها ذلك، وقد اختلف الفقهاء في هذا الأمر فمنهم من ذهب إلى أن النمص جائز إذا كان لزوجها، ولم تقصد منه زينة أمام الأجانب، ومنهم من ذهب إلى منعه، ويرجح الأستاذ الدكتور عجيل النشمي أستاذ الشريعة بالكويت المنع إلا إذا كان بقاؤه يشبه المرأة بالرجال، أو يعيبها في نظر زوجها، وإن فعلت فبالقدر المعقول وإليكم نص فتواه:

الفقهاء مختلفون في ذلك، وفيما يلي عرض لآرائهم، ثم الترجيح فيما بينها:

أولاً: مرجع الحكم في هذه المسألة إلى ما ورد في الصحيحين وأبي داود والترمذي وغيرهما عن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه أنه قال: "لعن الله الواشمات والمستوشمات، والنامصات والمتنمصات، والمتفلجات للحسن، المغيِّرات خلق الله، فقالت له امرأة في ذلك، فقال: وما لي لا ألعن من لعنه رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-، وهو في كتاب الله؟ قال تعالى: "وما آتاكم الرسول فخذوه وما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا" (الحشر:7).

وأخرج أبو داود وغيره عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: "لُعنت الواصلة والمستوصلة، والنامصة والمتنمصة، والواشمة والمستوشمة من غير داء".

والمتفلِّجة هي التي تفلج أسنانها بالمبردِ ونحوه للتحسين، والواصلة التي تصلُ الشعر بشعر نساء أو دواب، والمستوصلة المعمول بها ذلك، والنامصة التي تنقشُ الحاجب حتى ترفِّعه، وكذا قال أبوداود.

وقال الخطَّابي وغيره، هو نتف الشعر من الوجه والمتنمصة المعمول بها ذلك، والواشمة التي تغرز اليد أو الوجه ونحوهما بالإبر ثم يحشى ذلك المكان بكحل، قال بعضهم: أو مداد. والمشتوشمة المعمول بها.

ثانياً: أما عن المذاهب، فقد ذهب الحنفية إلى أن المرأة إذا أخذت شيئاً من حاجبيها تتزين لزوجها فإن ذلك جائز، وحملوا المنع والتحريم المستفاد، من اللعن في الحديث، على من تفعل ذلك لتتزين للأجانب، قال ابن عابدين: لعل الحديث محمول على ما إذا فعلته لتتزين للأجانب، وإلا فلو كان في وجهها شعر ينفر زوجها عنها بسببه، ففي تحريم إزالته بُعدٌ، لأن الزينة للنساء مطلوبة للتحسين، إلا أن يحمل على ما لا ضرورة إليه لما في نتفه بالمنماص من الإيذاء" (رد المحتار على الدر المختار 1-374).

والمعتمد عند المالكية، جواز حلق شعر المرأة ما عدا شعر رأسها، ومن ذلك النمص، وحملوا الحديث على المرأة المنهية عن استعمال ما هو زينة لها كالمتوفى عنها زوجها، والمفقود زوجها. (الفواكه الدواني 2-315).

وذهب الشافعية إلى جواز الأخذ من الحاجب المحسَّن للمرأة إذا كان بإذن زوجها (تحفة المحتاج في شرح المنهاج 1-129)، لكن قال النووي من أئمة الشافعية في شرح الحديث: هذا الفعل حرام إلا إذا نبتت للمرأة لحية أو شوارب فلا تحرم إزالتها بل تستحب. (صحيح مسلم 14-106، ودليل الفالحين 4-495).

ويمكن أن يسند قول الجمهور ما رواه مسلم في صحيحه، عن بكرة بنت عقبة أنها "دخلت على عائشة رضي الله عنها فسألتها عن الحناء فقالت: "شجرة طيبة وماء طهور، وسألتها عن الحفاف، فقالت لها: إن كان لك زوج فاستطعت أن تنتزعي مقلتيك فتضعيهما أحسن مما هما فافعلي".

وذهب الحنابلة وابن حزم وبعض الفقهاء إلى حرمة حف الحواجب، لظاهر الأحاديث الوارد فيها اللعن، واللعن لا يكون إلا لمحرم. وقد ذهب ابن الجوزي من الحنابلة إلى جواز النمص، وحمل الحرمة على غير ذلك، قال: ظاهر هذه الأحاديث تحريم هذه الأشياء، التي قد نُهي عنها على كل حال، وقد أخذ بإطلاق ذلك ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه، على ما روينا، ويحتمل أن يحمل ذلك على أحد ثلاثة أشياء: إما أن يكون ذلك قد كان شعار الفاجرات فيكنَّ المقصودات به، أو أن يكون مفعولاً للتدليس على الرجل فهذا لا يجوز، أو أن يتضمن تغيير خِلقة الله تعالى كالوشم الذي يؤذي اليد ويؤلمها ولا يكاد يستحسن.

وأما الأدوية التي تزيل الكلف وتحسن الوجه للزوج فلا أرى بها بأساً، وكذلك أخذ الشعر من الوجه للتحسُّن للزوج، ويكونُ حديث النامصة محمولاً على أحد الوجهين الأوليين. (غذاء الألباب في شرح منظومة الآداب 1-433).

الترجيح بين آراء الفقهاء:

ومن هذا يظهر أن الكل متفق على أن ظاهر الحديث يفيد الحرمة، إلا أن جمهور الفقهاء أوّلوا الظاهر بأن المراد التدليس، أو أنه تزين للأجانب، أو أن النهي للمرأة المتوفى عنها زوجها أو زوجة المفقود.

والحنابلة في تقديري أقوى دليلاً، لأن اللعن الوارد في الحديث بيان أن المنهي عنه من الكبائر، وصرف ظاهر اللفظ إلى ما ذكره الفقهاء فيه تكلف، وبعد، ولذا استشكل صاحب "الزواجر عن اقتراف الكبائر"، وهو من الشافعية أقوال أئمة الشافعية في المسألة فقال:

تنبيه: هذه كلها من الكبائر، وهو ما جرى عليه شيخ الإسلام الجلال البلقيني في الأولين، وغيره في الكل، وهو ظاهرُ لما مرَّ أن من أمارات الكبيرة اللعن، وقد علمت صحة الأحاديث بلعن الكل، لكن لم يجر كثير من أئمتنا على إطلاق ذلك، بل قالوا: إنما يحرم غير الوشم والنمص بغير إذن الزوج أو السيد، وهو مشكل لما علمت في قصة الأنصارية فإنه -صلى الله عليه وسلم-قال لها: لا، مع قولها إن الزوج أمر بالوصل، وعجيب قولهم بكراهة النمص بمعنييه السابقين مع اللعن فيه، ومع قولهم بالحرمة في غيره مطلقاً أو بغير إذن الزوج على الخلاف فيه، وأيُّ فرق مع وقوع اللعن على الكل في حديث واحد؟!، والإمام النووي من أئمة الشافعية حرمة كما سبق.

فرأي الحنابلة أظهر وأحوط، خاصة وأن ترقيق الحواجب من أخص أعمال الزينة في محلات التجميل النسائية اليوم ويعمل بطريقة لافتة للنظر جاذبة، وهو لا يكاد يفارق نساء غير المسلمين المتبرجات، لأن من تفعله مرة تفعله كل مرة، وإلا لحقها شين.

وإنما يستثنى من الحرمة ما كان له سبب مشروع كإزالة شين من وجه المرأة كثخانة الحاجب حتى يشبه حاجب الرجال، فتزيل منه بقدر ما يرفع التشبه، أو كان متصلاً فيشبه حاجب بعض الرجال، وهو لافت للنظر، ومنفِّر للزوج، فتزيل القدر الذي يصل بين الحاجبين، أو كان الحاجب غير مستو خلقة، فتصلح منه ما يزيل اعوجاجه مثلاً أو تجري عملية لتعديله إن احتاج لذلك، وكذا إن كان شعر الحاجب متناثراً غير متناسق، فتزيل ما تناثر منه، وعلى العموم كل ما كان شيناً أو لافتاً للنظر أو جالباً للحرج، فيسوّغ للمرأة أن تأخذ من حاجبها بقدره.

ومن أخذت برأي الجمهور فعليها ألا تظهره أمام الأجانب من الرجال، لأن الفقهاء اعتبروه من الزينة التي لا تجوز إلا للزوج، فنص الحنفية والشافعية على أنه زينة للزوج وحديث عائشة رضي الله عنه السابق روايته عند مسلم يشير إلى أن الزينة إنما هي للزوج، فعلى المرأة أن تخفيه بنقابها أو حجابها.أ.هـ

Some do pedicures too. They like to call themselves "meterosexual". I think there's no grey area here though, according to every alphabet of manliness, overdoing stuff like that is just....well you said it.

The shoyookh I spoke to said there was a distinction between plucking the eyebrows which is what the Hadeeth references, and trimming them, and that the reason for the hadeeth to begin with was that the prostitutes at that time used to pluck their eyebrows so the idea was that Muslim women wouldn't shouldn't do it to avoid suspicion.

You know I don't beleive any of this, I'm just passing on what they said.

In school (Back in the 80s) before I lost my hair, I used to blow dry it both to dry and style it, but it was quite popular to have bangs/fringes then. Blame it on 80's rock bands !

that's one of the reasons Islam will never flourish, cuz we're so condemned and narrowed with such minor issues that we never look at the big picture ! Islam is so simple and contemporary, if it was like this back in the prophet's days, doesn't mean it's imposed these days, we have a mind, use it and think ! and please... i beg you, stop making Islam seem this shallow and superficial.

I understand when a guy goes for facial treatment, manicure-pedicure (not the nail polish of course, just cleaning cuticles and so..) I can consider it as part of caring about his personal hygiene, but shaping eyebrows is way too much!!  
There was this singer in Super Star (Haitham) whose eyebrows were so plucked and shaped and he looked so disgusting!!

Now about the 7aram and 7alal issue, I know it’s been so overrated..but i’ll just share my 2 cents in this..
I heard this from Su3ad Sale7 and she’s 3ameed in Al Azhar University. I respect this woman and consider her a reliable source of info when it comes to this issues, el mohim; she said what is 7aram is removing the whole eyebrows hairs and reshaping or drawing the eyebrows like they used to do in jahileya..but trimming and cleaning without changing the whole shape is not 7aram..specially if the woman’s eyebrows are so thick and makes her look like a man. a woman called her and told her that her husband asked her to do her eyebrows, so she told if your husband asked you then you should do them, it’s considered as "tajamol" for him..

And she also mentioned al wasila wal mustawsila..and said how we “Muslims” have a very wrong understanding to some a7adeeth…and she said it’s not wasil el sha3er at all…al wasila is the woman who brings another woman to a man, and el mustawsila is the woman who does the thing (it’s all about prostitution then!) and she confirmed the tafseer of this 7adeeth..

She said hair extensions and baruka is not 7aram..if the woman got a terrible hair loss, like some are going to chemotherapy and lose their hair, so it’s ok as long as she doesn’t lie about it, for example if she’s getting married she have to tell the man her real situation and not deceive him with a nice and thick hair…..i thought it’s important to share this with u guys..

Well Dima, I stopped doing my eye brows a couple of years ago or a bit less, since I asked a few of the " she5at" and they all told me its an uncontested fact that its haram ! some months ago I started questioning when I found out that some of the "mofteen" or people who convey "fatwa" to us would know there are 3 or four different opinions and they would be convinced in one, and thus we would get the one "they" prefer to be the uncontested truth, at that point I rebelled and started asking and reading in different matters that I took for granted, one of which is the subject at hand. I found out as mentioned above all those different "fatwas" so I discussed this with one of the " 3olama2" after I knew the basics of the subject, and he told me both extremes are there some say its halal no restrictions and some say Haram no exceptions, but he told me there is a middle ground that does not make too loose since there is a hadeeth about it to start with, which is you can shape them so they are neat and clean and are not too thin so they would be too eye catching and close to the looks of some not so moral ladies !

Well there is a difference between being metrosexual and being gay.. and i actually like guys that are concerened about their appearance and are not ashamed to be using a lotion for instance.. but plucking the eye brows is definitely gay...

sigh.. what has become of this world!
