Career Suicide!

It appears that people sometimes end up with a loose wire in their brain or a loose nut or something. They go berzerk! And for some reason they decide that they really freak out and just destroy everything they have! Problem is, they "think" they're right! When everything view them as being the epitome of wrong! In just about everything. Worse part, they have the audacity to consider people who are trying to help them .. enemies!

No this is not about the Rock Band "Career Suicide"

I've had it ... Seriously, I have had it!

A colleague (soon to be ex-colleague, if things continue to develop in this way) is really committing career suicide! Defying superiors. Rejecting work tasks, not showing up sometimes and even going as far as insulting his managers IN WRITTEN FORMAT!

I don't know how what goes in the mind of a suicidal employee! When I look back at how many hours I have spent trying to convince him that what he's doing is wrong and how this will not only harm him, but just about everyone around him. No one is indispensable, I don't care how many PhD's you have, your attitude speaks volumes. And quite frankly, no body is really benefiting from his vast knowledge!

So on Friday, I thought I managed to get through to him. And got his commitment that he will change, and fix his work and his attitude. This morning I was driving to work and was thinking of talking to one of the top management to convince Mr Suicidal to seek professional help (and it's completely paid for and covered by the company so it's free to him).

But after what I saw today! I wouldn't blame his management if they do anything to him! I did what I can in my capacity. I even talked to his friends outside of work and urged them to intervene and some have actually talked to him and thought It worked.

There's nothing more that I can do to a suicidal person. I'm not going to jump off the roof with him! This whole thing is starting to feel like quicksand, the more you struggle, the worse you sink. If he's adamant that he wants to go all Lindsay Lohan on us and ruin his career.... He's on his own!
