I noticed a small protrusion close to the top of a window. Since it was very close to the roof of my house it has gone unnoticed for few weeks (months?)

wasp nest

I decided I'm not going to take any chances. Although I seldom open this window in the winter. Summer is here and I can't take any chances

I monitored the thing using my zoom lens (it was at least 4 meters high and would require a ladder to get a closer look)

There was no doubt. It looked like a small bee cones. Hmm bees? building a home on my window?wasp

Got the ladder, and without opening the window got closer. This doesn't look like a bee, it's much larger. And the cones look disgusting and look like papyrus. So googling around, Ah-ha, this is a wasp nest. PANIC! I HAVE A WASP NEST! oh my god! what am I going to do. Wasps are more aggressive than bees. And in big numbers can be very scary. (not to mention painful and possibly deadly)

So I call a bunch of friends to come help me take it off. No one is available, a week later, still no one to help. Time to do it myself

Bought a ladder, and prepared for the attack on the "Wasp nest"

The night before, I flexed my Multi-Ladder got up with a pesticide, and sprayed the nest. Killing the BIG ugly wasp protecting it. Not to take any chances. I waited till the next day.

I got my gloves, a big Ziploc bag Climbed up and got the nest off! Woof, that's a relief!

Memories....

asalam 3alaykom,
that is horrible..you can make a movie and call it..WASPS..like ANTS and it'd sell big!!
but know what??
the nest is scary but the bug is so colorful..nice bug;)
The thing is actually the size of a golf ball. But the picture is a close up, so you would see the details
Any bug that is very colorful means trouble. It's like a warning to insect eating animals to remember how PAINFUL it was to eat this bug last time

FYI Never destroy a wasp nest out of fear. Wasp feed on flys and mosquitos and other insects. I was building a radio tower one time and noticed that as I bolted on additional sections of tower that the wasp would follow me up as I got higher. They are very curious and I discovered that If I didn't swat them that they would not harm me. Of course if the nest is in a area that is used often then it can be a nuisance and would require destroying. Wait until the sun sets in the afternoon and all of the wasp are on the nest and then spray with Wasp spray.
