I never thought there would EVER be any good news on this. But apparently there is. The highest Shiite cleric in Lebanon (Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah) has described the practice as, Disgusting. Blaming it on old and archaic cultural practices.
I've said this a million times before. the whole honor killing stink is Unislamic. The Islamic law is against it and discourages it in every possible way. Even if adultery is proven (by four witnesses, who witness the act, and pass the a thread between the two that doesn't pass) In other words, close to impossible to prove. Only then it's punishable by death for BOTH married Men and Women. So this whole practice against women in many places in the middle east is one of the worst forms of oppression there is

August, that dreadful month. One of the worst months in the whole year (at least for me). I don't want to be superstitious or anything. But this month has always brought to it sadness, misery and painful memories. I have no idea why.
Maybe I associated it with the end of the summer at a young age. Maybe due to many traumas that have surrounded it. But one thing is certain. It is one sad month

Last Saturday, I went on a picnic with a bunch of the Arab community around me. It all started nice. Cool sunny weather, beautiful scenes, good food a lot of attractions .. the works. So I sat with the rest of the Arab guys and couldn't help noticing how ill behaved the little ones are. And the parents just stood paralyzed and unable to do anything as their kids threw a tantrum after the other for just about anything. The theatrics the little kids made were worthy of an Oscar. As she kept picking on one little kid hurling stones at him, beating him up with sticks .. pushing him, pulling him ... until he pushed her away and she fell on her bottom to explode screaming (when she has done way worse to him). She kept crying until everyone paid attention and asked for the boy to be punished. At that point I intervened telling the parents what had really happened. I guess she hates me now!
